Isabel

Isabel Villaescusa (Barcelona, 14/06/1952), llicenciada en Química per la Universitat de Barcelona el (1986) i doctora en Química per la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya el (1993).

Des de Desembre de 1986 és professora del Departament d’Enginyeria Química, Agrària I Tecnologia química de la Universitat de Girona i  catedràtica del mateix departament des de 2010. Durant aquests anys ha fet docència en diversos cursos de la carrera d’Enginyeria Química (actualment grau d’Eng. Química): Química, Química  Orgànica, Química Analítica.

La seva recerca ha estat dedicada a l’estudi de la toxicitat de metalls mitjançant el bioassaig Microtox i d’altres models biològics y a la biosorció de metalls i compostos orgànics emprant residus agroalimentaris. Actualment ha iniciat un nou projecte sobre la síntesi verda de nanopartícules metàl·liques a partir de metalls que es troben en drenatge àcid de mines emprant l’extracte de residus agroalimentaris. És responsable del grup Metalls i Medi Ambient de la Universitat de Girona. Des del 2000 fins l’actualitat.

Ha estat la investigadora principal de varis projectes de recerca, els més recents són: Desenvolupament d’una planta pilot per a la descontaminació d’aigües contaminades amb metalls emprant residus agroalimentaris (ref. CTM2012-37215-C02-01) i Síntesi verda de nanopartícules metàl.liques de drenatge d’aigües de mina (ref. CTM2015-68859-C2-1-R) . Tots dos projectes han estat finançats pel Ministeri d’Economia i Competitivitat.

És editora associada de la revista Environmental Chemistry Letters i forma part del board de l’European Association of Chemistry and the Environment.

Coautora de més de 80 articles en revistes internacionals d’alt impacte assistint a nombrosos congressos internacionals com a ponent i com a ponent convidada. Durant els darrers 5 anys:
